Silicone Alkyd Enamel

This one-component enamel is specifically designed as a weather-resistant coating system for above-waterline, exterior use on naval vessels. This paint can be applied on primed, smooth metal, glass reinforced plastic (GRP), wood, and plastic/composite exterior surfaces. It has excellent color retention and can be used as a finishing coat for both new construction and maintenance coating.

MIL-PRF-24635 is a high-performance, silicone-alkyd enamel paint designed to provide a tough, durable top-coat finish to exterior surfaces. This paint is ideally suited for protection of non-submerged surfaces, including above water-line ship applications, coating of steel storage tanks, and top coat finishing of structural steel, railings, pumps, and other equipment.

Complies with Performance Specification MIL-PRF-24635E (Sept. 15, 2009), superseding MIL-PRF-24635D.

Types
  • Type II = Standard durability coatings with VOC not greater than 340 g/L or 2.8 lb/gal.
  • Type III = Standard durability coatings with VOC not greater than 250 g/L or 2.08 lb/gal.

  • Class 2 = Semigloss, 45 to 60
  • Class 3 = Low gloss, 7 to 12
